President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov visited complex of Hazrati Imam in Tashkent on 25 April to acquaint with constructive and accomplishment works at the complex.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov visited complex of Hazrati Imam (Hastimom) in Tashkent on 25 April to acquaint with constructive and accomplishment works at the complex.

Hazrati Imam complex is large scientific-spiritual centre, which studies Islam and philosophy. The complex uses great authority in Uzbekistan and Muslim world. The reconstruction work at the complex was started in November 2006

President Islam Karimov familiarized with reconstruction works at the complex and development of infrastructure.

Uzbek president signed a resolution on 20 February 2007 to support Public Fund of Hazrati Imam, which determined complex of measures on construction and reconstruction of this complex.

New building of Uzbekistan Muslims’ Board and Committee on religion under Cabinet of Ministers was built, UzA reported.

Islam Karimov familiarized with library, which stores ancient and rare manuscripts and gave his recommendations on improvement of activity of the library. He said, “It is prohibited to be careless to unique and ancient books.”

Uzbek head drew attention to equipment of working rooms and conference halls with modern equipment and communication systems.

President Karimov visited new building of the centre of Istiqlol mahalla (neighborhood) and met their inhabitants.

Islam Karimov acquainted with ancient copy of Koran, stored at the complex. He said that this book was brought to Uzbekistan by Amir Temur.

President Karimov initiated construction of new mosque with two minarets and two domes at the territory of the complex. He visited it and gave recommendations on its construction and creation of conditions. This mosque will be the largest establishment of this kind in Uzbekistan.
