Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Islam Karimov will attend the meeting of heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), in Moscow on 14 June, a source at the Organization’s Secretariat told Interfax-AVN on Monday.

"We have received a formal notice that the Uzbek president is willing to attend a session of the Organization’s Collective Security Council along with other CSTO heads of state," the source said

"All these reports that Uzbekistan may suspend its CSTO membership or ignore its annual session are untrue," he said.

At their meeting CSTO heads of state are planning to make a number of important resolutions, in particular, to approve an agreement to create the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF).

In April, the CSTO held a session of its members’ foreign ministers in Yerevan. The Uzbek foreign minister said then that he did not see much sense in him attending that session. This led to allegations by many political analysts and media outlets that Uzbekistan could withdraw from the CSTO.

The CSTO consists of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
