Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 6 July 2010 and the Senate approved it on 28 August 2010.

The law was developed based on the presidential decree “On measures on further improvement of pension provision system of the citizens” from 30 December 2009 and other several documents.

In line with the document, off-budget Pension Fund under Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan will be responsible for pension provision, including, calculation, financing, accounting and monitoring of pensions, social allowances, compensations and other payments. It will also organize activity of medico-labour expertise.

Earlier, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan was responsible for the pension provision system.
