During the meeting, Uzbek President Islam Karimov underlined high level of mutual understating and trust between Uzbekistan and Germany for which gradual development of the Uzbek-Germany cooperation in many spheres can serve as a proof.

Guido Westerwelle expressed gratitude to the Uzbek leader for warm reception and underlined readiness of Germany for further expansion of bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan in many sectors.

Westerwelle said that Uzbekistan has been making a remarkable input into securing peace and stability in the region by consistently advocating, among other things, to address the situation in Afghanistan with non-military means.

German foreign minister gave his high appraisal of the reasonable and constructive stance of the Republic of Uzbekistan with regard to the recent events in Kyrgyzstan.

Further development of bilateral cooperation and other topics of common interest have also been discussed at the meeting, UzA reported.
