Uzbekistan 08/06/2007 Uzbek leader receives credentials from UK, South Korean envoys

Uzbek President Islam Karimov received credentials from newly-appointed ambassadors of South Korea and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Uzbekistan in the Oqsaroy presidential residence on 8 June.

The South Korean Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Kyun Jea-min, presented his credentials to Uzbek President Islam Karimov. Having presented the credentials, he said he was happy to serve to developing Uzbek-Korean relations.

Kyun Jea-min said: "Of late, Uzbek-Korean relations are rapidly developing. An agreement on strategic partnership signed during the Uzbek president’s visit to Korea in March 2006 has raised these relations to a higher level. As an ambassador, I would do my best to utilize our countries’ all potential for boosting cooperation."

Following this, Uzbek President Islom Karimov received credentials from the newly-appointed ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Uzbekistan, Iain Kelly. The ambassador said that during his activities he would do his utmost to further develop cooperation.

Iain Kelly said: "I am very happy to arrive in the sunny and beautiful Uzbek land. As for bilateral relations, during my work as an ambassador, I will use my knowledge and potential to develop and strengthen long-term cooperation."
