Uzbek President Islam Karimov received a visiting Chinese Finance Minister Jin Renqing at the presidential residence Oqsaroy on 9 July.

President Islam Karimov said: "Chinese President Hu Jintao’s state visit to Uzbekistan in 2004, gave a strong impetus to the development of relations between our states. I recall well his tour throughout Uzbekistan and our joint visit to [southern region of] Bukhara. He showed a great interest in Uzbekistan and in developing cooperation between our countries. I should say that we are currently implementing the historically significant document, which we call a treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership signed between our states in 2005. It should be said that the implementation of this document is being carried out with much success."

Jin Renqing thanked for a warm welcome and noted that Beijing views relations with Tashkent as a priority of its foreign policy and expressed the hope that traditionally friendly and partnership relations between the two states will be developed further.
