Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 August 2018, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev opened a new plant of Uzbek Metallurgical Plant in Bekabad (Tashkent region).
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched a new ferroalloy plant with a project cost of US$60 million, which is equipped with modern energy-saving technologies and advanced equipment.
The new plant is built with participation of the South Korean company Posco Daewoo. The plant’s capacity is 25,000 tonnes of ferrosilicon and ferro silico manganese a year.
This will not only ensure the needs of the metallurgical industry, but also export an average of 8 thousand tons of ferroalloys a year and provide an inflow of currency at the amount of $12 million, as well as reduce imports.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the technological processes in the new plant, talked with South Korean partners. The Head of the state was presented projects within the framework of the investment program of JSC “Uzmetkombinat”.
The management of the plant and officials were instructed to increase the number of such facilities by implementing new investment projects, creating additional jobs and increasing the level of employment of the population.
