Uzbek leader offered to introduce amendments to the article 96 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan and state in new edition.

According to the proposal of Islam Karimov, if the President of the country cannot to implement his duties and powers, chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan will be entrusted temporarily to carry out presidential duties. At the same time, the presidential elections will be held within three months in line with the law “On elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov said that this will exclude all ambiguous interpretation of this article in case if the President of the country cannot fulfill his/her responsibilities.
