Uzbek, Latvian officials consider bilateral ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia Igors Apokins was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 2 Jule 2012.

The topical issues of bileteral relations were discussed during the meeting.

It has been noted that Uzbek-Latvian relations are based on positive experience accumulated for many years of cooperation in all spheres of interaction.

Creation of interparliamentarian cooperation groups at Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and Saeima of Latvia allowed to bolster contacts between the parliaments of the countries, to share experience in legislative activity.

The results of the meeting of the Intergovernmental commission on development of economic, industrial, science and technical cooperation in Riga in May 2012 were an important event in enhancing links in this sphere. In 2011 mutual trade increased by more than 40 percent and amounted to 192,5 mln US dollars. Dynamic growth of bilateral trade is being observed this year as well.

The issues, related to the acceptance by the Ambassador of the duties of the Dean of the diplomatic corps in Tashkent in 1 June 2012, were also considered on his request.
