Uzbek-Korean seminar discusses e-government development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Uzbek-Korean seminar on studying Korean experience and perspectives of cooperation in introduction of information technologies in public governance was held at the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI) on 2 August 2010.

The UzACI, Ministry of Knowledge and Economy of Korea, National IT Promotion Agency (NIPA) and the World Bank organized the event.

Representatives of the President’s Office of Uzbekistan, Legislative Chamber, Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments of Uzbekistan, state bodies in places participated at the event.

The seminar was aimed at expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea on developing information and communication technologies, including formation and introduction various services with use of ICT in public governance.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is introducing information technologies into public governance. Uzbekistan developed new Governmental Portal with G to B and G to C modules. The government pays great attention to introduction e-reporting and e-document turnover.

Development and use of ICT helps to increase management efficiency in all levels and expand interaction of the government with population and businesses due to open and timely access to information.

During the presentation, NIPA held presentation “E-government and international cooperation programme of Korea”, “Creation of action plan on development of e-government in Uzbekistan”. UzInfoCom presented current state and perspectives of information development in Uzbekistan.

Participants familiarized with Korean experience on introduction of ICT in various sector of economy and social sphere, including in banking sphere, healthcare, management of social infrastructure, electronic email service and others.
