Kyrgyzstan National Statistics Committee recorded an increase of 59.6% in the flow of foreign direct investments in the country’s economy in 2006.
Thus, in the reporting year, the sum of foreign investments made in Kyrgyzstan totaled US$335.6 million. The share of the FDI in the country’s GDP made up 11.1%.
The flow of direct investments from the countries of CIS grew 3.2 times to US$157.2 million. Most of these investments came from Kazakhstan (US$136.8 million, or 40.7% of the total volume of FDI) and Russia (US$19.8 million, or 5.9%).
The flow of FDI from Kazakhstan grew 3.4 times, from Russia – 2.4 times and from Uzbekistan – 8.4 times.
