Uzbek investment, economic potential presented in Poland
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A presentation of investment and economic potential of Uzbekistan was held in Poland, Jahon news agency of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported.

The event was attended by representatives of state establishments and companies of Poland, working in such sectors as pharmaceuticals, chemical and textile industries, banking sector and agriculture industry.

During the presentation, the Uzbek side provided information on the State Programme “The Year of Small and Private Entrepreneurship”, social-economic development of Uzbekistan, created conditions in Uzbekistan for foreign businesses and investors, perspective directions of the Uzbek-Polish cooperation, as well as advantages of investing to Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

Deputy Minister of Economy of Poland Rafal Baniak said that Poland is interested in establishing sustainable, long-term and partnership relations with Uzbekistan. He said that economic development of Uzbekistan shows sustainability and equilibrium, which can attract Polish companies into Uzbekistan.

He said that currently trade turnover between two states does not correspond to existing opportunities. Rafal Baniak called the Polish businesses to invest into Uzbek enterprises and joint the Uzbek-Polish projects.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Poland, the trade turnover between two states made up US$130 million in 2010. At the same time, the imports from Uzbekistan grew significantly. Currently, 37 joint enterprises with Polish investments operate in Uzbekistan.

In his speech, deputy director of Department of Finance Minister Zhonjetski Ositively rated cooperation between financial institutions of two states. He said that this will increase banking-financial operations between two countries. He expressed hope that financial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Poland will develop further.

Deputy director of Department of international bilateral cooperation of Ministry of Economy Bodio noted growing interest of Polish businesses to establishing of cooperation with Uzbekistan. She said that such meetings will provide opportunity to determine economic and investment opportunity, as well as foreign trade potential of each other.

Polish officials also noted that the Polish National Exposition will be presented at the International exhibition Uzbekistan Agrominitech Expo 2011, which will be held in May 2011 in Tashkent.

Representatives of such companies as Adamczyk&Adamczyk, Selena, Abplanapl, Rolimpex, Supra group, Asket, Fasing expressed their satisfication with create favourable investment climate in Uzbekistan and readiness to cooperate with the Uzbek partners.
