Uzbek Interior Minister Lt-Gen Bahodir Matlubov met and held talks with the visitors.

Matlubov noted that cooperation established in 1992 between the two countries’ law-enforcement agencies was giving its positive result. Matlubov told the visitors about the ministry’s activities.

The minister also spoke on how the work was being carried out to fight the manifestations of international terrorism and religious extremism, as well as the illicit circulation of drugs, and stressed that these were priority areas today. In particular, strict measures are being taken to uncover drug crops, prevent the smuggling of drugs from Afghanistan into Tajikistan and then into our country. For this purpose, the operations entitled Black Poppy are held annually.

For his part, Hugues Pernet thanked for the friendly reception and stressed that collaboration between the two countries’ law-enforcement agencies served to further strengthen cooperation and for the mutual exchange of experience.

Other issues, which are of mutual interest for the sides, were also discussed during the meeting.
