Islam Karimov familiarized those who had gathered at the meeting, including representatives of the public, businessmen, farmers, elders and young people, with his election programme.

The supremacy of law, respect for human interests and ensuring human rights, developing a democratic society, greater economic liberalization, and greater modernization of the country are identified as priorities in the election programme. It was noted at the meeting that the holding of the election on an alternative basis has become possible thanks to the formation of a national electoral system.
