Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev signed a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On complex measures on state support of national institutions on human rights” on 30 September 2008. The document approved a complex measures on strengthening of material-technical base of national institutions on human rights of Uzbekistan in 2008.

The document entrusted Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan to allocate resources to purchase furniture, vehicles, computers, software and other material-technical resources to the Secretariat of Human Rights Commissioner of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan (Ombudsman) and National Human Rights Center.

The resolution said that the Ombudsman and its Secretariat will receive resources from the State Budget of Uzbekistan from October 2008. The resources will be used to print publications and literature, pay membership fees in international institutions of Ombudsmen, participate in international forums, etc.

The Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI) will provide communication means and Internet to the Ombudsman’s Secretariat and develop websites for national institutions on human rights till 1 November 2008 and ensures its uninterrupted functionality in world wide web.
