Uzbek football league to cut number of foreign players

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Professional Football League (PFL) of Uzbekistan is planning to cut number of foreign players, who can play in the Oliy Liga clubs.

PFL director-general Farhod Magametov said that the clubs could register five foreign players and one of them should be from Asia (4+1). Now this rule will be changed to 3+1.

Magametov stated that the Uzbek clubs cannot register foreign goalkeepers. At the same time, he added that the foreign keepers, who have long-term agreements with the clubs, will be allowed to serve their contracts.

PFL chief also added that the Uzbek league will start on 15-16 March 2012 and will be ended in the end of November.
