Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 May, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov held a meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the format of a video conference.
It was also attended by First Deputy Minister Omonullo Nasritdinkhodjaev, Deputy Finance Minister Odilbek Isakov, Head of the EBRD Office Alkis Drakinos, Senior Banker of the Bank's Financial Institutions Department Jahan Shamsiev and other representatives of the EBRD.
The current state and prospects of cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and the EBRD in the field of transformation of the banking system were discussed.
EBRD specialists paid special attention to the development of the private sector and state-owned enterprises. The possibility of support by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development of the transformation process of a number of state-owned enterprises, in particular the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine, was discussed.
Also, important projects for our country to expand the capital market were considered. The EBRD representatives noted that they are ready to assist Uzbekistan not only on strategic issues in this direction, but also in the implementation of specific initiatives. Several proposals were agreed. The participants emphasized that the development of the capital market will provide the economy with long-term financial resources.
The meeting took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere. In conclusion, the parties agreed on further cooperation.
