During the talks followed by the official ceremony the sides have discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Sweden in political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian areas, as well as in the sphere of ecology, Jahon information agency of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported.

The King of Sweden Karl XVI Gustav has recalled with warmth his trip to Uzbekistan yet undertaken back in 1978. He said that the ancient architectural monuments of Samarkand, the beauty of Tashkent and the hospitality of the Uzbek people left a profound impression on him.

The King of Sweden Karl XVI Gustav said he was interested in further development and deepening of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Sweden on the directions of mutual interest.
