According to the Azerbaijani media outlets, Uzbek Ambassaddor Sherzod Fayziev handed over credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamedyarov.

He also congratulated on the 89th anniversary of birthday of Geydar Aliev and said that current president of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliev made great contribution to development of the relations between two states.

Elmar Mamedyarov said that Azerbaijan highly rates that Uzbekistan supports Azerbaijan’s position. He added that the relations between two states in all directions are developing.

Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan (upper house of parliament) appointed Sherzod Fayziev as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan on 24 March 2012.
