Uzbek envoy hands over credential to Australian Governor-General
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan with the residence in Singapore Alisher Kurmanov handed over credentials to the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Ms Quentin Bryce on 17 May 2011.

During the meeting, Quentin Bryce highly rated a decision of Uzbekistan to appoint the first ambassador to Australian, which is considered by Canberra as historic contribution to strengthening bilateral relations. She underlined that Australia pays great attention to strengthening relations with Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek envoy also held negotiations at the parliament, Departments of Foreign Affairs and Trade, small businesses, tourism, Agency for Trade and Investment Austrade, Association Tourism Australia, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Australia, as well as large companies, which are interested in cooperation with Uzbekistan.

During the meetings and negations, the sides underlined mutual interest in development of perspective directions of cooperation in energy, metallurgy, financial services, agriculture and tourism.
