Economy 23/06/2009 Uzbek economy to grow 4.5% in 2009 - WB report

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Economy of Uzbekistan will grow by 4.5% in 2009, which is the highest growth in Europe and Central Asian region, the World Bank “Global Development Finance 2009” said.

The report said the gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan will increase by 5% in 2010 to 6.5% in 2011.

The World Bank said Uzbekistan generated record double-digit surpluses in net exports of 16.2% of GDP in 2008. In 2009, Uzbekistan’s current account surplus is projected to shrink to 11.8% of GDP, the report noted.

However, the report said that current account surplus will rose to 15.2% in 2010 and fall to 13.6% in 2011.
