Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 October 2023, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov with a delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by Senior Vice President Sachiko Imoto.

JICA is one of the implementing agencies of Official Development Assistance of the Government of Japan. The Agency promotes socio-economic development and human resource capacity building with the aim of promoting self-reliant and sustainable development of developing countries.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the effectiveness and progress of current projects, as well as the high-quality preparation of promising projects. Particular attention is paid to supporting the energy sector and implementing government programs in the areas of irrigation, drinking water supply and road construction.

Currently, the Agency is implementing 7 loan projects and 16 grant projects in Uzbekistan in such areas as education, energy, healthcare, livestock, agriculture and water management.

Jamshid Kuchkarov emphasized that Uzbekistan is interested in strengthening a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with JICA. Sachiko Imoto, in turn, noted her readiness to continue and expand active interaction with Uzbekistan in areas of mutual interest.
