Uzbek diplomats, UBTIC Co-chairman hold talks in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Co-chairman of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council and member of UK Parliament Peter Lilley, who is in Tashkent heading the delegation of representatives of British business circles, was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 24 October 2012.

Pressing issues of Uzbek-British cooperation were discussed at the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

A priority attention was paid to interaction in trade-economic, investment spheres. It was noted that at present 437 enterprises with British capital are operating in Uzbekistan in different spheres. 86 UK companies are accredited in Uzbekistan.

The parties expressed interest in enhancing mutually advantageous cooperation within the framework of the “Program of developing high-technology spheres of production in 2012-2015”, establishment of joint projects at Navoi Free industrial-economic zone and Angren special industrial zone, where foreign investors are provided with favourable conditions and tax and customs priveleges.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the talks.

British Ambassador George Edgar attended the meeting.
