Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Ilkhom Khaydarov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Uzbekistan, Ilham Tuwah Bin Illias.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current status and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as the progress in implementing the agreements reached during the high-level Uzbek-Malaysian summit in Tashkent and the first session of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) in Kuala Lumpur in May 2024.

The sides noted significant progress and the dynamic development of cooperation in key areas such as the chemical industry, energy, digital technologies, electrical engineering, the halal industry, and Islamic finance. Both Uzbekistan and Malaysia expressed interest in accelerating the implementation of joint projects in these fields.

The meeting also touched upon the prospects for cooperation within ASEAN, given Malaysia's upcoming presidency in the organization in 2025. Organizational and substantive aspects of planned visits and events in 2025 were discussed in detail.
