Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 June  2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Muzaffar Madrakhimov met with the Regional Representative of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) for Central Asia Matilda Bogner.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of interaction between Uzbekistan and OHCHR.

OHCHR representatives were informed about the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, including in the field of human rights, promotion of gender equality, comprehensive development of youth, and the complete eradication of forced and child labor. It was noted that evidence of the widespread recognition of the ongoing reforms was the election, for the first time in the history of the countries of Central Asia, of a representative of Uzbekistan as a member of the UN Human Rights Committee for 2025-2028.

The parties also discussed the progress of implementation of previously reached agreements and the development of joint programs and projects with the UN and its institutions.
