Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 February 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Muzaffar Madrakhimov met with the Sub-Regional Coordinator of the International Organization of Migration (IOM) for Central Asia Zeynal Hajiyev.

During the conversation, the parties discussed current issues related to the interaction between Uzbekistan and the IOM, and outlined joint tasks to further expand cooperation.

Mutual interest was expressed in maintaining close contacts within the framework of the implementation of the “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy, which is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The sides considered the proposals for the development of joint projects and programs aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the field of combating illegal external labor migration and human trafficking. 

The parties exchanged views on upcoming events, including the organization of visit of the IOM leadership to Uzbekistan.
