Uzbek delegation discusses healthcare cooperation with Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Vakhabov, met with the Minister of Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Nurom Jalol Jaloli.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation in the healthcare sector, focusing on the pharmaceutical and dental industries, as well as the implementation of joint projects.
The Afghan side proposed the creation of a center for training specialists in dentistry in the city of Termez, expanding dental services for the population, and opening approximately 20 branches. This proposal was supported as it is expected to significantly improve public health and address numerous dental issues.
Additionally, key issues in the pharmaceutical sector were discussed. Specifically, entrepreneurs suggested reducing the drug registration period in Afghanistan from six months to one month, as well as introducing a system of permits for one-time drug imports. The Minister of Health of Afghanistan fully supported the proposed initiatives.
Under these conditions, given the high quality of products and competitive prices, there are great prospects for Uzbek pharmaceutical companies in the Afghan market. Taking all factors into account, it can be confidently expected that by the end of the year, exports to Afghanistan will exceed US$50 million.
