The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an international organisation consisting of 57 member states. The organisation attempts to be the collective voice of the Muslim world (Ummah) and attempts to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims.
The Organization was established upon a decision of the historical summit which took place in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco on 25 September 1969. Currently, it unites 57 states with population of about 1.5 billion people.
The headquarters of the OIC is located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Uzbekistan became member of the OIC in 1996.
