Uzbek-Czech business forum takes place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 11 October, the Uzbek-Czech business forum, organized by the ministries of agriculture of the two countries with the assistance of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Union of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic, started in Tashkent.

The event is attended by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov, the Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic Marek Vyborny, the First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Islom Jasimov, as well as leaders of representatives of unions, associations, enterprises and organizations of the agricultural sector of the two countries.

The main goal of the forum is to create and develop a platform for establishing dialogue and identifying joint promising projects that can bring mutual benefit.

From the beginning of 2022 until October of this year, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic amounted to only US$4 million, which indicates an almost completely unrealized potential between the countries. At the same time, the active expansion of opportunities for intersectoral cooperation in the field of agriculture between countries will allow us to develop export-import potential and implement many joint projects in such industries and areas as livestock farming, organic farming, crop production and scientific activities.

It is planned to develop intersectoral connections and joint work to study local varieties of fruit crops and grapes, to improve existing breeding varieties of pome and stone fruits, as well as to study the physiology of fruit crops.

In order to effectively implement the agreements reached and form a platform for regular discussion of cooperation issues, it is proposed to create an Uzbek-Czech working group, which will include representatives of ministries and departments responsible for the development of the agro-industrial sector of the republic.
