State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said that illegal import of medicaments to Uzbekistan is one of frequently registered violations.

The committee added that customs bodies in cooperation with other law enforcement bodies conduct regular measures to prevent such cases.

The committee said that recently one case has been recorded at Tashkent International Airport. Ferghana region’s citizen and passenger of Istanbul-Tashkent flight N. Allamanov attempted to smuggle 400 packages of medicaments.

Similar violation was registered at Namangan Airport. During customs inspection of passengers of Namangan-Novosibirsk flight, H. Honazarov was detained. He tried to smuggle 70 units of Phenazepamum, which is banned in Uzbekistan as it is considered drug.

Currently, customs investigation is underway on these cases.
