Uzbek customs service seize 90 kg of drugs in January-June
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan in cooperation with other law enforcement bodies prevented 59 attempts to smuggle 90 kg of drugs in six months of 2012, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said.

One of such facts was disclosed in Surkhandarya region. At railway customs post “Sariosiyo”, customs officers detained citizens of Tajikistan with 7.7 kg of drugs at the Dushanbe-Moscow passenger train.

Afghanistan citizen Murod Salim tried to smuggle 51 kg of drugs, two grenades and rifle of foreign production, but he was arrested by law enforcement bodies.

At Bekobod temir yoli railway customs post, customs officers seized 11 kg of heroin at cargo train, which heading from Tajikistan to Latvia.

Criminal cases have been opened on all cases.

The press service added that State Customs Committee officials have detained 30 tonnes of drugs and precursors since independence of Uzbekistan.
