Uzbek Consul holds negotiations at Omsk Commerce Chamber
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk Abdurakhim Kayumov paid a visit to Omsk on 24-27 November 2009. Within his visit, Consul General of Uzbekistan held several negotiations at the Government of Omsk region and visited Omsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

President of Omsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tatyana Horoshavina said that Omsk region has long and strong relations with Uzbekistan and for past years Uzbekistan is one of the main trade partners of the Russian region.

She said that Uzbekistan was among Top-10 foreign trade partners in nine months of 2009. Omsk region exports to Uzbekistan such items as caoutchouc, rubber and products from them. The region also exports products from ferrous metals, organic chemical compounds, plastic and products from it to Uzbekistan, she added.

Tatyana Horoshavina underlined that the Russian region traditionally imports fruits, vegetables and products from them, textile and textile products from Uzbekistan.

The Russian side held presentation of economic potential of Omsk region and the activity of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The chamber officials said they are cooperating with the Chambers of Commerce and Industries of Kashkadarya region, Tashkent, Karakalpakstan Republic, Khorezm region, Navoi region and Bukhara region in line with the cooperation agreement, signed in 2007.

During the meeting, Abdurakhim Kayumov and business people expressed their concern with the situation at customs service during season of exporting vegetables and fruits to Omsk. They said trucks with perishable products cannot pass Omsk border for several days. The Uzbek suppliers said sometimes they stay at border for 10 days and nobody repair their damages.

Tatyana Horoshavina said that she will raise this issue at the session of the Consultative Council on foreign economic activity under Omsk Customs as the member of the council.

The sides also considered issues of cooperation in 2010, organization of trade-economic mission and further exchange of information.
