Uzbek citizens warned of increased migration status checks in Egypt
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo has announced that migration control measures in Egypt are being intensified, particularly regarding foreign nationals, including students.
In this context, inspections to verify the legality of stay have become more frequent, especially in the Nasr City area, where embassy representatives held discussions with local police units.
As of 13 May, five Uzbek citizens were among those detained for violating migration regulations.
One of them was released following intervention by embassy staff and presentation of documents confirming the legality of his presence in the country. Legal assessments and appropriate decisions in accordance with Egyptian law will be made regarding the others.
To ensure prompt response and provide legal assistance in such cases, the embassy strongly recommends immediately reporting any detention of Uzbek citizens by calling +20233364516 or +20233361723, or through the Telegram channel: @shtabegypt.
Uzbek nationals in Egypt are strongly advised to strictly comply with residency rules and always carry identification documents, a valid residence permit (iqama), or a student ID.
