After meeting with officials from the Bukhara and Tashkent football associations, Vision Asia experts will spend the next two months drawing up a development programme for the two regions.
Vision Asia Director Brendan Menton said Uzbek football is more developed that most other Asian countries but there was still room for improvement.
“I very much like the present structure of the federations in both cities,” said Menton. “However, football development doesn’t stop at any one place and we should work on improving the structure.”
Initial plans will focus on administration, clubs and competitions, coach education, referees education and grassroots & youth.
Uzbekistan is one of 12 active Vision Asia countries and the first one from Central Asia to join the programme. Apart from the two city federations, AFC is also working closely with the Uzbekistan Football Federation.
