Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) analyzes the situation on the automobile market of Uzbekistan on a monthly basis.

The surge in sales was ensured by the opening at the end of September of an additional contract by UzAuto Motors for Chevrolet Lacetti, Cobalt, Damas and Labo models. In October, almost 40 thousand new domestic cars were sold, while the electric car segment continued to shrink, where sales fell by 26%.

At the end of October, sales of motor vehicles increased by 24% and amounted to 183 thousand and with an increase of 62% by October last year.

Passenger cars

Passenger car sales in October amounted to 168 thousand, an increase of only 23% over the month.

The largest growth was recorded in Syrdarya (+47%), Kashkadarya (+43%) and Ferghana (+39%) regions.

In general, sales of passenger cars increased by 62% compared to October last year.

Despite the fact that prices for budget models Damas/Labo, Cobalt and Lacetti rose in October, amid the resumption of the issuance of contracts by UzAuto Motors, in November, sales of passenger cars are also expected to increase.

The situation in the primary passenger car market

Sales of new passenger cars for the month increased by 17% against 1.4% a month earlier. Compared to October last year, activity doubled, almost 25 thousand cars were sold, whereas in September - no more than 10 thousand cars.

In October, sales of new domestic passenger cars increased by 15% against 4.2% in September and amounted to almost 39 thousand.

The market of foreign passenger cars

If a month earlier, a decrease was noted in the segment of new passenger cars of foreign production, then in October sales amounted to almost 6 thousand, an increase of 30%. At the same time, growth by October last year, activity increased 3 times.

The situation in the secondary market

The secondary car market continued to grow in October. Sales of used passenger cars exceeded 124 thousand cars, which is 26% more than a month earlier. Compared to October last year, the growth was 46%.

Electric vehicles market

Sales of passenger electric vehicles have been falling for the second month in a row. In October, 2.7 thousand electric cars were sold, which is 26% less than in September.

Tashkent’s electric car market has sunk significantly, there is a decrease in sales by 45% to 1.4 thousand against 2.5 thousand electric cars in September.

At the same time, compared to October last year, sales of electric vehicles increased 5.6 times.

If we evaluate the primary market of electric vehicles, then this segment also shows a decrease of 35% to 2 thousand, whereas sales increased 6 times compared to last year.

At the same time, the secondary market of electric cars, as a month ago, is increasing. In October, sales increased by 30%, while in September there was a less noticeable increase of 8.5%.
