The Central Bank said that the growth made up 26.53% compared to the beginning of 2011 or 1.367 million units. Compared to 1 January 2008, number of issued cards grew 2.57 times or 4.518 million units.
As of 1 July 2011, largest number of banking payment cards was issued in Tashkent city (924,604 units), Ferghana region (781,174 units), Samarkand region (624,051 units) and Kashkadarya region (558,256 units).
According to forecast of the Central Bank, commercial banks of Uzbekistan will increase number of issued banking payment cards to 6.6 million units by the end of 2011.
Commercial bank of Uzbekistan installed 88,539 POS-terminals as of 1 July 2011, which is 3.26% more compared to the beginning of 2011. The growth compared to 1 January 2008 made up 4.73 times.
As of 1 July 2011, largest number of POS-terminals was installed in Tashkent city (16,739 units), Ferghana region (8,405 units), Tashkent region (7,467 units) and Samarkand region (6,433 units).
By the end of 2011, number of installed POS-terminals in Uzbekistan, in line with the Central Bank forecast, will reach 95,000 units.
The volume of transactions through POS-terminals, installed at commercial banks at trade and service points, grew from 266 billion soums in 2008 to 4.262 trillion soums as of 1 July 2011. Central Bank forecasted that the volume of transactions will hit 8.3 trillion soums.
As of 1 July 2011, Tashkent city (848 billion soums), Ferghana region (453 billion soums) and Kashkadarya region (362 billion soums) were leaders on transaction volume.
