Uzbek banks issue 8.276m banking payment cards

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of banking payment cards, issued into circulation by commercial banks of Uzbekistan, made up about 8.276 million as of 1 January 2012, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said.

According to the bank, the number of issued banking payment cards increased by 367,120 units year-on-year in 2011.

There are several banking payment card processing systems in Uzbekistan. Interbank payment system Uzkart is largest of them and it unites 28 commercial banks.

At the same time, seven banks work with international cards VISA and Europay / MasterCard. They emitted about 128,000 cards.

Commercial banks of Uzbekistan installed 99,688 POS-terminals (85,741 units as of 1 January 2011), 312 ATMs (229) and 593 infokiosks (262) as of 1 January 2012.
