According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, assets of commercial banks of Uzbekistan grew up to 35.7 trillion soums in 2012.

Level of development of national banking system is rated as ratio of aggregate assets of the banking sector to the GDP of the country. The figure helps to assess penetration of financial services in the economy of the country.

Ratio of the assets of the banking system to GDP of Uzbekistan made up 36.9% in 2012, which is 1.6 percentage points more compared to 2011 (35.3%). The figure made up 33.9% in 2010 and 32.7% in 2009.

At the same time, according to the IMF, level of the accessibility of banking services makes up 39.5 banking establishments per 100,000 adult population. The figure is considered as high if the figure is higher than 30 banking establishments per 100,000 population.

The Uzbek banking system also leads on number of accounts, launched by individuals at commercial banks. The figure stood at 1,025 accounts per 1,000 persons. (1,000 account is high figure).
