Uzbekistan 21/12/2007 Uzbek authorities detain Afghan with 40 kg of opium - TV
Officers of the regional directorate of the National Security Service for Surkhandarya region have prevented an attempt to smuggle a large batch of narcotics into the country. An Afghan citizen, Sayfullo Bahromogly, pretending to be a businessman, tried to smuggle over 40 kg of opium into Termiz District, as was testified by a laboratory analysis. During a search, a Makarov pistol was seized from the suspect.

It turned out that Sayfullo Bahromogly has been convicted before and served a sentence in Uzbekistan for committing a crime related to drug trafficking, but apparently he has not made correct conclusions. His criminal intentions to gain various profits which could have caused irremediable damages to many citizens of our country were prevented in time. An investigation on this fact is underway.
