Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev held a meeting with Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, according to the Dunyo news agency.
During the discussion, the sides talked about further steps to strengthen political, military, and military-technical cooperation, as well as coordinating efforts to ensure stability and deepen economic integration in the region.
The minister expressed support for the initiatives of Uzbekistan’s President aimed at achieving peace and economic progress, as well as promoting large-scale infrastructure projects. He noted that Tashkent has become an important hub for regional cooperation.
The importance of the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan was emphasized. Shared history, religious values, and similar cultural traditions provide a solid foundation for strengthening ties between the two countries.
Special attention was given to the implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway project, which is expected to serve as a powerful stimulus for mutual trade-economic integration, improving the region’s transport and logistics system, supporting social projects, and raising the standard of living. The project is anticipated to bring material and strategic benefits to all participating countries.
Both sides also highlighted the simplification of the visa issuance system, and the resumption of flights on the Tashkent–Lahore route will play an important role in accelerating cooperation in various fields.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of interaction between the defense ministries of the two countries, discussed relevant issues, and agreed on a schedule for upcoming joint events.
