Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Mumbai, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Sardor Rustambaev met with Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director of The Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL), to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation in tourism and hospitality between Uzbekistan and India.
The meeting highlighted a notable increase in the number of Indian tourists visiting Uzbekistan, rising from 50,000 in 2023 to over 80,000 in 2024.
Passenger air traffic between the two countries has tripled over the past 18 months, with 18 weekly flights operating on routes connecting Tashkent with Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa. Plans are underway to further increase flight frequency to 24 per week.
Discussions focused on potential investments in new hotel construction in Uzbekistan, the provision of modern tourism services, and joint hotel management initiatives. An agreement was reached for an IHCL delegation to visit Uzbekistan to discuss specific project opportunities.
