UzAuto Motors to increase car production capacity to 500,000 in 2023

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- UzAuto Motors intends to increase the production capacity of passenger cars to 500,000 units in 2023.

Uzavtosanoat JSC, UzAuto Motors and General Motors signed an agreement on this at the UzAuto Motors’s car plant in Asaka (Andijan region).

The document was signed during the visit of a General Motors delegation headed by Senior Vice President of General Motors, President of General Motors International Shilpan Amin to the UzAuto Motors plant in Asaka.

The parties discussed strategic agreements that are important for the future of UzAuto Motors, as a result of which a number of agreements were signed to expand cooperation.

During the meeting of the General Motors delegation with the UzAuto team, issues of further development of cooperation between companies, increasing production capacity and expanding the geography of production were discussed. In addition, the discussion touched upon the topic of expanding the production of Chevrolet cars in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

As a result of the meeting, Uzavtosanoat JSC and UzAuto Motors signed a number of agreements with General Motors on the implementation of projects to update the line of cars produced, increase the capacity of factories, and increase production.

In particular, an agreement was reached to increase the production capacity of cars in 2023 to 500,000 units. In order to achieve these figures, in addition to the production of new models, it was decided to increase the production capacity of Cobalt and Damas cars to 150,000 of each model.

In addition, the parties agreed on the need to continue joint efforts to turn UzAuto Motors into a leader in car production among the CIS countries, as well as the importance of comprehensive support in the successful organization of small-scale car production (CKD) in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

It was also noted that in achieving all the goals set, the support of General Motors in the continuous supply of components is important. Together with General Motors, the UzAuto Motors plant will further increase its production volume, which in the long term will amount to 1 million units of cars.

The program of the visit also included familiarization with the production processes of the plant, during which Mr. Shilpan Amin was introduced to the new production lines for the production of Chevrolet Tracker and Onix cars, as well as plans for their production.
