UzAuto Motors Removes Unilateral Clauses from Contracts Following Competition Committee Review

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan has announced the removal of unilateral provisions from contracts concluded by UzAuto Motors JSC after the company amended them in accordance with the law.

During the review of contracts offered by the company’s dealership enterprises — consisting of 8 sections and 45 subsections — provisions were identified that conflicted with legal requirements. Following a joint analysis with UzAuto Motors JSC, 21 subsections were brought into compliance with current regulations.

In particular, the refund period was reduced: previously set at 30 days from the signing of an additional agreement, it has now been shortened by 10 days. A clause allowing delays in vehicle delivery due to temporary production stoppages was moved from the section “Seller’s Obligations” to the “Force Majeure” section. In addition, the provision permitting an extension of delivery by 120 days when the same vehicle model was purchased under a repeat contract within a year has been completely removed.

The updated contracts now clearly define the seller’s obligations in line with the legislation.

The Competition Committee welcomed these steps by UzAuto Motors and emphasized that it will continue systematic work to protect consumer rights in this sector.
