UzAuto launches a modern foundry in Andijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Andijan, a ceremonial launch was made of the unique in the CIS modern foundry "Kova Foundry", located on the territory of the Special Industrial Zone "Industrial hub of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering".

The foundry, located on an area of 9.1 hectares with a production area of 27.1 thousand m², was built and put into operation in a record 10 months. The flat plot of land allocated for construction in the shortest possible time turned into a modern plant with a production capacity of 18,000 tons.

Modern equipment, qualified specialists and the ability to process metal in a full cycle make it possible to turn raw materials received into production into products with 8-10 times the added value: raw materials worth US$370 per ton are converted into products worth up to US$3,700 during the casting and processing process.

Finished products

In order to develop new types of products with high added value, the enterprise implemented the most advanced and new technologies for the industry, including all cycles of metal processing: melting, casting, molding and high-precision machining. For this, the plant has four workshops with the most modern equipment from Germany, Britain, the USA, Turkey, Korea and other advanced countries.

Metal melting shop

The metal melting shop is equipped with 2 melting systems, including 4 induction furnaces capable of melting 12 tons of liquid metal per hour. A highly efficient power distribution system - POWER SHARING, used in the smelter, can save up to 20% of the energy consumed due to the low energy consumption of the smelter (488 kWh / t).

Workshop for the production of molds from sand (XTS, PGS)

The production process includes workshops for the production of sand molds for casting small and large parts weighing up to 2 tons, with a production capacity of up to 1.2 million molds. The workshop is equipped with a thermal sand recovery system that not only reduces costs but also reduces its environmental impact by reusing up to 3,000 tons of foundry sand per year. The installed automatic molding line PGS is by far the fastest molding line in the CIS.

Shop for primary processing of castings and painting

The workshop is equipped with modern equipment and allows processing 15,000 tons of castings for the automotive industry and 5,600 tons of castings for the agricultural industry. Two painting lines are capable of painting up to 2.2 million parts per year.

Machining shop

The machining workshop is equipped with 4 robotic cells and 15 machining centers made in Germany, Korea and Taiwan, with a robotic cell automation level of 98%. The capacity of the workshop allows precision processing of 2.0 million car chassis parts and 4,000 sets of tractor transmission parts.

The industrial sectors of Uzbekistan have a need for cast parts in the amount of more than 102 thousand tons per year. The new plant will reduce the import of components for such important sectors for the country’s economy as construction, oil and gas production, water supply, the transport industry and all other industries where iron products are imported.

It should be noted that the uniqueness of the production process of this enterprise allows to significantly expand cooperation not only between the sectors of Uzbekistan, but also throughout the CIS. The Kova Foundry plant is the first enterprise in the CIS that has carried out the localization of these parts, and at the moment the enterprise is already receiving orders for production from neighboring countries.
