Uzatom Agency declares full transparency of expenses for international conference
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Atomic Energy Development Agency "Uzatom" has issued an official statement in response to recent media and social media reports alleging misuse of state funds during the organization of the international conference held on 5 December 2024. The forum focused on "Prospects for the Use of Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Purposes in the Sustainable Development of OIC Member States: International and National Experience."
Earlier, reports circulated in the media claiming that "Uzatom" had allegedly spent 5.9 billion soums from the state budget for the event, including expenses for flights, venue rental, and accommodation for participants. The agency strongly denied these allegations, calling them false and misleading.
The statement emphasizes that the conference was fully funded through sponsorship support from companies of the forum’s participating countries. All organizational expenses were covered exclusively by off-budget sources, in full compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and international financial transparency standards.
"Uzatom" noted that the successful organization of such a large-scale event was made possible through constructive international partnerships and aligns with global best practices for organizing forums of this level. The agency operates on principles of openness and accountability, with all financial transactions undergoing required auditing procedures.
"We are always open to dialogue and ready to provide further clarification on the funding and organization of events," the agency's press service said, urging journalists and the public to rely on verified facts and official sources of information.
