The conference has been organized by the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Biology of Plants under the Science Academy of Uzbekistan.

The conference is aimed at analyzing current state of scientific researches in this area, role of new approaches in solving important issues food supply to population, critical analysis of scientific results and opportunities of the GMO products use, global experience and possible mechanisms of control over distribution and use of GMO in Uzbekistan, development of recommendations and proposals on preparing normative acts, regulating GMO turnover and products.

At the conference, the sides discussed current state of the GMO research in the world, legislative base on consumption and distribution of GMO products, testing and certification of GMO in Uzbekistan.

Over 60 representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan, Institutes of the Science Academy of Uzbekistan, State Biologic Control, and international organizations attended the meeting.

During the participants, the sides developed recommendations, directed at improving system on GMO and GMO product use in Uzbekistan, improving legislative base of the country, as well as prepared proposals on status of bodies, authorized for control and security of food products, etc.
