Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The United States of America, through its Agency for International Development (USAID), signed a new memorandum of understanding with the government of Uzbekistan to expand access to safe and quality anti-tuberculosis and other medicines in Uzbekistan.

During the first-ever Uzbek-American Health Forum held in Tashkent, USAID Uzbekistan Mission Director David Hoffman and Health Minister Amrillo Inoyatov signed a memorandum of understanding between USAID and the Ministry of Health’s Center for Pharmaceutical Safety to improve the quality of medicines in Uzbekistan. and supporting the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan.

Director Hoffman stated: “USAID congratulates the government of Uzbekistan for hosting the first-ever Uzbekistan-US Health Forum, opening the door even wider for partnership and coordination between our two countries.”

Through USP’s Advancing Drug Quality+ activities, USAID is working closely with national stakeholders and partners in Uzbekistan to sustainably strengthen drug quality assurance systems and improve access to essential medicines and quality-assured medical products for citizens of Uzbekistan .

The signed memorandum establishes mutual understanding between the governments of both countries to further progress towards jointly achieving common goals of improving health for all.
