US, Uzbekistan sign accord on transit of military cargo for Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United States and Uzbekistan have signed an agreement on the transit of supplies intended for the US military in Afghanistan, a Pentagon spokesman announced on Friday.
Under the agreement, food and other non-military supplies will be shipped across Uzbekistan to the US military contingent in Afghanistan.
The cargo will be transported by land and by air, the Pentagon official said.
