US may become SCO member in future – official
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The USA currently do not intend to become member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), but do not rule out such opportunity in future, the US official said.

Robert Blake, Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian and Central Asia, said in interview to Itar-Tass that the US is not official participant of the SCO, but in future the country sent its representatives for dialogue with the organization.

He said the US are not strive for full membership, but added that in future there could be interest for it.

The US diplomat said the country is following the activity of the SCO and the organization could be good mechanism of cooperation and partnership in Uzbekistan.

At the same time, Blake said the organization should not turn into tool for establishment of regional supremacy. It should be mechanism for equal partnership, he said.

The SCO includes Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
