Representative of the US Embassy in Tashkent Eric Collins accompanied the US delegation, the committee said.

Chairperson of the Committee on religious affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan Ortiq Yusupov and chairperson of the Uzbekistan Muslims Board muftiy Usmonhon Alimov received the delegation.

During the meeting, the US delegation received information on religious situation in Uzbekistan, created conditions for Muslims and representatives of other religions. They were also briefed about reforms in religion sector. It was said that Uzbekistan marks holidays of Muslims, Christians, Judaic and other religions.

It was said that people can freely visit holy places both in Uzbekistan and abroad. Annually, thousands of people perform Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage.

During the meeting, the US delegation received answers to their questions, the committee said.
